Phospholipids are amphiphilic molecules that, depending on their chemical structure, can self-assemble in solution into specific architectures—such as micelles, inverse micelles, or bilayers—enabling the formation of structures with varying complexity and functionality.
Objectives
The objective of this project is to validate the technical feasibility of synthesizing amphiphilic bi‑chain derivatives and to study their surfactant properties in comparison with natural phospholipids. The proposed route involves a fast and efficient synthesis based on a 100% bio‑sourced reactive intermediate derived from fatty alcohols and itaconic acid.
Expected results
Access to these surfactant molecules via a straightforward and easy-to-implement synthetic strategy.
