For this 13th edition, the Carnot 3BCAR community was hosted by UMR IATE on the La Gaillarde campus in Montpellier on 25 and 26 January. The internal seminar is a privileged opportunity to meet in person and exchange ideas in order to co‑construct new resourcing projects.

The seminar began with a review of the highlights from 2023 and the network’s latest news, providing an overview of achievements and progress. Early‑career researchers were then put in the spotlight, given the opportunity to present their research projects in dynamic 180‑second pitches. This was followed by a presentation on how the 2023 Carnot funding was allocated to support activities in 2024, shedding light on forthcoming projects and initiatives supported by our network. The 2023 funding allowed us to finance nine research projects, fourteen proofs of concept, two quality certification actions, four investments to strengthen technological platforms, and three international missions.

Presentations on projects funded in 2022 then took place, highlighting initial results from initiatives such as ECODROP, LOOP, AmphiBiEn, Twins4GasPBR, CATAFM, CLEANWOOD, COCKESTER, B2IP‑H2, SUGARMIX, FOLIBRASS, and 3DLIPID. The first day concluded with a presentation of METYS’s Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) service line.

The second day began with a workshop focused on our technology‑transfer structures (CRT/CTI). Researchers interacted with our six components—CRITT BIO‑INDUSTRIES, CRITT GPTE, CRT CATAR, METYS, ITERG, TWB—to encourage the emergence of resourcing projects involving these entities. A further presentation followed, detailing the new resourcing projects funded by the 2023 allocation: HYMEC, E‑LASTO, ICAM, DUB.ME BIOMETHANE, TC NANOCELL, METHASOLC N, CEENS, PRICEPOX, and FORMULAFLA.

The day concluded with a visit to the IATE laboratory, which develops a multidisciplinary scientific approach to the study and transformation of renewable resources from agricultural, forestry, and agri‑food sectors.

The programme, built over these two enriching and stimulating half‑days, offered everyone the opportunity to discover the latest advancements within our network and contribute to its continued success—for example, by submitting new proposals in response to the 2024 call for projects.
