TWINS4GASPBR

Development of the first open-source photobioreactor digital twin for gas-fed processes

Biomolécule

Context

Mathematical modelling is a valuable tool for the design of bioreactors, as well as for the study, optimisation, control and analysis of bioprocess systems.

Objectives

The objective of this project is to develop the first digital twin of a photobioreactor (PBR). Its development requires a robust phase of experimental validation, necessitating expertise in mathematical modelling and experimental methods—including representation of key biological and physico-chemical processes, fluid dynamics, and light distribution.

Expected results

The development of an open-source tool and deployment of the solution across additional process types is planned. This will enable evaluation of the benefits of implementing a gas conversion process on an industrial site.
