Proposing new approaches to optimise the bioproduction of aroma compounds and agro-solvents, notably 2-phenylethanol and ethyl acetate, by Kluyveromyces marxianus. This project contributes to the development of new pathways for the valorisation of renewable carbon derived from plant materials through the optimisation of microbial conversion of sugars into chemical building blocks.
Objectives
This project aims to explore the biosynthetic pathways of volatile compounds, specifically 2-phenylethanol and ethyl acetate, to elucidate nitrogen and carbon metabolism, thereby directing production towards target metabolites.
Expected results
Construction of the metabolic model of K. marxianus for 2‑phenylethanol production and its validation.
