PROSE
Environmental biotechnologies – processes – Sustainable development – Biogeochemistry – Modelling
The Component presentation
The PROSE unit conducts research into environmental biotechnologies, from the scale of microbial communities to that of processes (wastewater treatment plants, anaerobic digesters, bioelectrochemical processes for biorefineries, etc.), in connection with the major societal challenges of sustainable development, the circular economy and the bioeconomy.
The PROSE unit is part of a transdisciplinary approach based on microbial ecology, biogeochemistry, process engineering, physical measurements and modelling.
Research areas
-
Understand processes by implementing advanced analytical approaches and acquiring on-line process data on pilot and industrial scales
-
Integrating and combining knowledge from an engineering perspective, through the development of databases, processing tools (bioinformatics and biostatistics) and models of coupled biophysical-chemical processes
-
Optimising and innovating in the field of bioprocesses, by removing the scientific and technical obstacles to implementing innovative processes and carrying out full-scale tests
