Synthesis of new surfactant organocatalysts for synthon synthesis – Optimisation and scale-up

Context

The LCA and CRT CATAR are pioneering the development of eco-friendly and efficient surfactant organocatalysts for the synthesis of chiral synthons. These catalysts are derived from renewable resources such as fatty acids and amines and operate in aqueous media, eliminating the need for traditional organic solvents. Their performance in micellar systems and their role in key reactions, such as Friedel–Crafts alkylation, are being optimized to achieve maximal impact. By integrating green chemistry principles, industrial scalability, and recycling, the SURFASYM project paves the way for sustainable and economically viable processes.

Objectives

The SURFASYM project aims to develop new surfactant organocatalysts for the synthesis of high-value chiral synthons.

Expected results

The molecular organisation in water of the newly obtained molecules will be studied with the aim of producing high-value chiral molecules. The synthesis pathways of the surfactant chiral organocatalysts leading to the best results will be optimised and conducted within a framework where various aspects of green chemistry are examined. A scale-up study will then be carried out.
