Compromises and trade-offs for the judicious valorization of non‑food biomass.
Context
The development of the bioeconomy and the use of renewable resources to meet the growing food and non‑food needs of the population require effective and sustainable production systems from the field to finished products.
Objectives
The CALORABINA project aims to determine optimal biomass valorization pathways, taking into account (i) the territorial context, (ii) the target products, and (iii) the technical routes. Managing trade-offs and compromises within the overall system is identified as a crucial aspect of the study.
Expected results
Develop a systemic methodology—from territory to product—relying on process-based tools to model, qualify, and optimize biomass valorization pathways. The project will be implemented in a mid‑mountain territory.
