ENZEPOX

Chemo‑enzymatic epoxidation of undecenoic acid and its valorization.

Biomolécule

Context

Epoxides are incorporated into numerous everyday products (e.g. plasticizers, paints, lubricants). Industrial production of these molecules typically requires strong acids, which cause equipment corrosion, necessitate neutralization steps, generate waste treatment requirements, and often lead to low selectivity due to side reactions.

Objectives

The ENZEPOX project aims to develop a chemo‑enzymatic epoxidation process using more selective and environmentally benign synthetic pathways.

Expected results

The reaction conditions for the epoxidation process will be optimized.
