TORGENOL

Production of value-added molecules from the gaseous effluent of wood torrefaction.

Biomolécule

Context

As part of the ANR INVERTO project, thermodynamic modeling of the complex mixture constituting the gaseous effluent from a torrefaction process highlighted the feasibility of easily recovering certain valuable compounds.

Objectives

This project aims to experimentally validate the modeling results obtained in the INVERTO project to condense and recover valuable molecules from the gaseous effluent of a torrefaction process. The recovery process will be limited to a minimal number of unit operations. The project also focuses on the purification step of the valuable compounds using green chemistry processes.

Expected results

The obtained tars are more complex mixtures than those predicted by modeling. Instead of targeting the purification of a single compound, extraction will focus on a mixture of structurally related molecules.
